“The Chemistry of Concrete”

Fall meeting of the northern division of the NEACT

Saturday, Oct. 1st, 2016

Camden Hills Regional High School, Rockport, ME

All are welcome to this workshop, sponsored by the New England Association of Chemistry teachers. There is no cost to attend, and lunch is included. The tour of Dragon Cement is limited to 18 participants: please register and indicate whether you wish to go on the tour. Contact hours for PD are available.


8:30 – 9:00 am registration and light refreshments

9:00 – 9:15 am welcome and introductions, Sue Klemmer

9:15 – 10: 45 am lecture on the chemistry of concrete, Dr. Eric Landis, Professor, U of Maine

10:45 – 11:30 am break and travel to Dragon Cement in Thomaston

11:30 – 12:30 pm tour of Dragon Cement, Mark Curtis

12:30 pm - lunch at a local restaurant, with a roundtable discussion on the role of engineering and materials science in chemistry courses
